Tomoscopy: Time‐Resolved Tomography for Dynamic Processes in Materials

چکیده

The structure and constitution of opaque materials can be studied with X-ray imaging methods such as 3D tomography. To observe the dynamic evolution their distribution constituents, for example, during processing, heating, mechanical loading, etc., has to fast enough. In this paper, recent developments time-resolved tomography that have led what one now calls “tomoscopy” are briefly reviewed A novel setup is presented applied pushes temporal resolution down just 1 ms, is, 1000 tomograms per second (tps) acquired, while maintaining spatial resolutions micrometers running experiments minutes without interruption. Applications recorded at different acquisition rates ranging from 50 tps presented. authors quantify immiscible hypermonotectic reaction AlBi10 (in wt%) alloy dendrite in AlGe10 casting solidification. combustion process constituents analyzed a burning sparkler. Finally, follow density two metal foams over long period time derive details bubble formation ageing including quantitative analyses parameters millisecond resolution.

A dynamic lattice model for heterogeneous materials

In this paper, the mechanical behavior of three-phase inhomogeneous materials is modeled using the meso-scale model with lattice beams for static and dynamic analyses. The Timoshenko beam theory is applied instead of the classical Euler-Bernoulli beam theory and the mechanical properties of lattice beam connection are derived based on the continuum medium using the non-local continuum theory. T...

Supercapacitive admittance tomoscopy.

A sensor for measuring adsorption on a substrate has been designed including a contactless detection scheme, called supercapacitive admittance tomoscopy (SCAT). The sensor comprises a thin dielectric layer with two parallel band electrodes on the one side and a chemically modified surface on the other onto which the adsorption of molecules occurs. Upon application of a high frequency ac voltage...

Materials in Participatory Design Processes

This dissertation presents three years of academic inquiry into the question of what role materials play in interaction design and participatory design processes. The dissertation aims at developing conceptual tools, based on Dewey’s pragmatism, for understanding how materials aid design reflection. It has been developed using a research-through-design approach in which the author has conducted...
